Allotropic to build an e-commerce platform for JBL Store Tanzania

Abstract dark composition with a small lime node network

Allotropic Ltd has signed an agreement with JBL Store Tanzania to design and build a full e-commerce platform for the business. The agreement was signed yesterday, and work begins this month.

JBL Store Tanzania sells consumer electronics and accessories to customers across the country. The new platform gives the business its own space online, with buyers and sellers each working from their own account, and every purchase completed through a direct WhatsApp conversation rather than a separate checkout process. A visitor can browse the full catalogue on the site, then move straight into a chat with the product already attached, rather than starting the conversation from scratch.

Scope

The platform covers a wide set of capabilities from launch.

  • Buyer accounts and a dashboard for order history and saved details
  • Seller accounts and a dashboard for managing product listings
  • An admin dashboard giving full oversight of users, products, and activity
  • A product catalogue with search and filtering
  • A WhatsApp purchase flow, where product details are sent straight into the chat so a buyer can complete the purchase directly with the seller
  • Transactional emails and a professional email setup for the business
  • An automated product feed connected to Google Merchant, so products can appear in Google Shopping results
  • Search and answer engine optimisation, so the platform is easier to find through Google and through AI powered search tools

The platform is also built on a modular foundation. Mobile money, bank, Visa, and Mastercard payments, along with branded SMS for notifications and verification, are architected for now and can be switched on in a later phase without rebuilding the platform.

Status

Design work is starting from the requirements agreed during scoping. Whether the platform will operate as a single brand store or open up to other sellers is being confirmed before development begins in earnest.

Allotropic Ltd will publish an update once the platform is live.
